Tesla Semi Truck Spotted Accelerating And Showing Off
If you’re a car enthusiast who enjoys the smell and sound of burning rubber, this clip of a Tesla Semi truck accelerating will tickle your fancy.
Since its initial debut, the Tesla Semi has sparked a ton of interest and pleased with its capabilities and overall appearance. Plenty of preorders from large retailers have gone into effect, as they find that the Semi will be a great addition to their fleet of delivery trucks (especially on a set route).
YouTube user Richard Fielder recently spotted the Semi truck in a warehouse district and recorded the sight. Apparently the truck was doing a quick sprint after getting a rolling start, going off to smoke its tires a little in the process.
The clip, which you can find below, shows the Tesla passing a 25 mph speed sign and sounding like a spaceship. If you listen closely, you can hear the tires turning on the pavement as some smoke emerges in the distance. It may not be an overwhelmingly exciting video, but it will have you rewinding and clicking the replay button quite a few times.
From its initial announcement, Tesla has promised some impressive performance figures for its Semi truck.

These statistics include: 0-60 mph in 5 seconds without a trailer and about 20 seconds to 60 mph when paired with a trailer that is loaded to 80,000 pounds. If you break it down, 5 seconds to hit 60 mph is really impressive, even for a sports car. Thinking back about a decade ago, this type of speed was mostly only achievable by supercars.
The question we have is: is this the king of acceleration that truckers look for when buying a semi? It may be that the automaker is simply showing off its goods here, but it definitely makes us want one. The 0-60 times may be admirable, but many customers can agree that such acceleration both depletes the battery life and also requires immense braking power to counteract.
The Tesla Semi’s all-electric powertrain means 500 miles between charges when equipped with its biggest battery. The automaker also claims that the brakes never require replacement. Apart from looking big and bad, the interior features a unique center seating position and Tesla’s iconic large screens filled with oodles of technology.
As soon as Tesla begins delivering the semis to customers, we can expect to see much more of them on the road. Large companies like Walmart, Ryder, Pepsi, and UPS have already placed orders for the truck. Keep an eye out!

The clip below may be only 10 seconds long, but pay close attention and keep your ears open. The real acceleration starts at 0:03 seconds.
We have to admit it, though; we watched the clip more than 8 times. Hopefully more videos of the Semi will come out as it nears production.
