It will be hard to focus on one thing at Frankfurt’s Motor Show. Too many revealing going on, including the old boy, the Land Rover Defender.

The adventure man and the Land Rover Defender is coming and we all wait patiently for what’s supposed to be the boss in the offroad business. Little to give away as the big boy will only be shown off a month from now at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

All the big 4×4 has been doing is going through vigorous tests on and off the road. But things must happen soon and teasers plus some specs need to be handed out as orders need to start coming in for the all-important Defender.

High expectations are always placed on Land Rover and it is extremely easy to disappoint but so hard to impress. For every Defender, there’s another competitor. This is in every range for every brand out there. This is what makes the brand wars so real.

Who would have thought, a view of a small piece of metal would make the crowd go mad? Well, that’s what got all talking about the Land Rover’s coming out celebration. However, the real reason there’s so much anticipation about the Defender’s arrival is that it has been three years since the last release (2016), which was also a huge disappointment.

"The image marks the first time the front end has been officially shown with production-spec badging. As well as the traditionally off-centre Land Rover emblem, the new model will bear the Defender nameplate in bold chrome lettering across the leading edge of its bonnet."

Sounds exciting the way they say “the image marks the first time the front end has been officially shown”. That and it sounds stronger when they display the front badge like it was starring as a new character in a Marvel movie, ” the new model will bear the Defender nameplate in bold chrome lettering across the leading edge of its bonnet”. What!

Mad just those few words make me want to be right in front of the reveal. A leaked picture from the set of James Bond “NO TIME TO DIE” has been making the rounds. If it is the new Defender, it looks the part.

Other features new on the Land Rover Defender

"The Defender in the image sports a number of off-road-oriented modifications, such as a bumper-mounted winch, chunky off-road tyres and protective chequer plate on the wings. It also seems to sit higher than prototypes we’ve seen before, suggesting the addition of an aftermarket off-road suspension kit."

The Defender will do all that our customers expect

"The one thing I can promise you is that the new Defender will do all that our customers expect of it, without being a copycat of what has gone before. It is a car for the modern world, and that means that it must move the game on if it is to be relevant."

A bold and brave statement made by Land Rover on the new brute 4×4 coming. And there is no other way to do things. If you want to make sales you need to make a billion-dollar statement such as this. You have to stand behind your product and get the word out there.
