Four-time Formula One World champion Sebastian Vettel is selling part of his supercar collection. The sale of his cars are being handled by Tom Hartley Jnr., a collector car specialist in the United Kingdom. The collection features five Ferraris.

After six-seasons with Ferrari F1, Vettel’s contract was not renewed and he signed with Aston Martin F1 for the upcoming season.

After winning four-straight world championships (2010-2013) with Red Bull, expectations were high for Vettel when he signed with Ferrari but the results were less than stellar. During his tenure with Ferrari, 2015-2020, he won 14-races but no world championships.

Vettel’s supercar collection is highly enviable and to date six have been sold:

1996 Ferrari F50: He purchased the F50 in 2015 after signing with Scuderia Ferrari. The F50 has 4,312-miles and was delivered new to Denmark.

2016 Ferrari LaFerrari: A low-mileage example, just 304-miles on the odometer, that has the custom “Vettel” logo embroidered on the headrest.

2016 Ferrari F12TDF: Highly optioned example with the ‘Vettel’ logo embroidered on the headrests. Powered by a 6.2-liter V12 engine paired with an F1 transmission. Rarely driven with just 738 actual miles.

2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale: The first new Ferrari Vettel ordered. Highly optioned throughout and features metallic black paint with gold fleck. Rarely drive with only 1,905 actual miles.

2009 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series: Powered by a turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 engine that produces a factory-rated 670hp, this Benz hits 0-60 mph in 3.8-seconds.

2002 BMW Z8 Roadster: Was Vettel going for a James Bond vibe? The Z8 was Bond’s car of choice in the 007 flick “The World Is Not Enough”.

A nice pair of supercars from the Vettel collection are still available:

2004 Ferrari Enzo: Originally delivered new to Germany and then purchased by Vettel, who had it shipped to Switzerland. An iconic Ferrari with 1,112-miles.

2010 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG: Ordered new by Vettel. An iconic Mercedes-Benz that was the  first model built from the ground up by AMG. The SLS was the official F1 safety car from 2010-2012.

Was Vettel’s collection of Ferraris put up for sale after his acrimonious departure from his former employer? Like many of us after a bad breakup did he chuck any remnants of his ex? The notoriously private won’t likely divulge any insight about the basis of his car sale.

According to his current F1 employer, Aston Martin, the dumping of his Ferrari collection was not a byproduct of switching teams.

“We have no knowledge of Sebastian’s plans with regard to his car collection and have made no stipulations or requests of any kind in connection with it.” – Aston Martin spokesperson on Vettel’s recent car sale.
