Ford F-150 Police Responder Is The First Police Pursuit-Rated Pickup
Law enforcement agencies have a new badass truck to step into and the Ford F-150 Police Responder looks ready for the jobs coming its way.
A couple of months ago, Ford unveiled a Fusion-based police responder as the “industry’s first pursuit-rated hybrid police car”. Now they have added one more vehicle to its expanding lineup of law enforcement-focused vehicles. Meet the Ford F-150 Police Responder and Ford is calling it the first police pursuit-rated pickup truck in the segment.
Powered by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine which churns out 375 hp of power and 470 lb.-ft. of torque, the 100 mph F-150 Police Responder comes with the SelectShift 10-speed transmission. The purpose-built vehicle is based on the F-150 FX4 off-road version and has the largest passenger volume, payload and towing capacity when you pit it against the rest of vehicles which come with police pursuit rating.
To cut a long story short, once this pickup makes those not-so-law-abiding citizens pull over, it has enough space inside to get them all into the rear seats and if the need arises, can also tow the troublemakers’ car.

Job-specific upgrades on the Ford F-150 Police Responder include police-calibrated brake system, revised suspension setup for better handling and braking, 18-inch wheels shod with all-terrain tires and heavy-duty interior trim to endure the rough use that almost all law enforcement vehicles will be put through during their tenure.
The target audience for the Ford F-150 Police Responder pickup truck include sheriff’s departments, border patrol operations, fish and game authorities and the Department of Natural Resources. These agencies need capable and rugged machines to navigate through the rural environments that they operate in.
