Paul Walker’s 1965 Shelby 427 Cobra FAM is being offered by Mecum during their March 2021 auction. Walker, the late star of the “Fast and Furious” movie franchise, was a devout gearhead that amassed a substantial car collection before his untimely passing in 2013.

The 427 Cobra being offered was commissioned by Carroll Shelby in the late 90’s and is one of a pair “FAM” editions produced. “FAM” stands for “Ferrari’s ass is mine”, which Shelby allegedly said after losing the 1964 World Manufacturer’s Championship to the Prancing Horse.

This Shelby is 1-of-14 CSX1000 produced and is serial number CSX1010. Power is provided by a matching-numbers Shelby FE aluminum 427ci V8 engine that is paired with a Tremec TKO600 5-speed manual transmission.

The four-wheel independent suspension is augmented by rack and pinion steering and Wilwood brakes with Shelby calipers. Other features include a 28-gallon stainless steel fuel tank, oil cooler, dual-fan aluminum radiator, and a Shelby aluminum differential housing out back.

The hand-rolled aluminum body was built by AC Cars and is painted in Ferrari’s iconic Rossa Corsa.

In 2020 Barrett-Jackson sold 21 vehicles from Walker’s collection for $2.3 million. That auction included, amongst other vehicles, seven BMW M3’s and three motorcycles.

Walker was a true gearhead. He raced a BMW E92 ME in the Redline Time Attack Series and owned “Always Evolving”, a performance shop in Southern California.

In 2010, Walker founded “Reach Out Worldwide“, a non-profit organization that provides onsite aid to areas struck by natural disasters.  Paul’s brother Cody founded the car show “Fuel Fest” in 2014 and the proceeds benefit “Reach Out Worldwide”.
